            If you are unfamiliar with the relationship of pet species to pet family, you might consider familiarization with Pet Basics 101.

DPS (the red bar) was calculated and then stringently tested. Opponents vary in toughness and resistance and dps will always vary in accordance with the target, length of fight and efficient use of the pet's [F2] skills. Since pets of various levels do differing dps, by using 100% as the highest Family dps, each pet dps can be comparatively judged. It will be proportional throughout the pet's leveling as the targets faced will be of the same level. At level 80, the highest Family dps can be expected to be about 600 DPS (100%). Pet's are often used for their effects (boons, conditions, control, and other) to assist in battle. Each [F2] skill has a cast time and therefore a dps "cost" (the pet is not doing damage while casting). These "cast cost" have been factored in, on a constant use on cooldown. Purely dps skills, that operate at a net loss in damage, are factored by a one use "cast cost".

HP (the brown-gold bar) is a measure of the pet's survivability. The ratio of survival times taken through testing verify the calculated expectations. Some pet's have skills which mitigate damage or heal (regenerate) and can survive for longer periods with proper use of their [F2] skills. The Bear Family has the highest Family survivability on Land. The Bear Family survivability on Land is considered 100%, and when facing a non-player target of average damage, a Bear can be expected to survive (unassisted) for about one minute. Underwater the Jellyfish Family will last nearly twice as long. The Hyena has a high survivability, because the Hyena Ally will last until the end of combat. The Hyena with proper use of the [F2] ability will survive fighting for longer than a Bear, but may be dead once combat ends.
